I found myself working 70-80 hours a week in corporate America building the brand of SaaS-based companies. I was married to my job and missing out on life. But I didn't realize it until I was forced into downtime when I had surgery to rebuild my foot.
You see I was born with a non-visible deformity that made the simple act of walking a challenge. In fact, a wheelchair was in my future. After the surgery, I didn't walk for nine months. This procedure forced me to "unplug" from the rat race.
By taking a step back from the sea of work I was drowning in, I could see what I was missing in my life. This journey helped me to realize it was time to get out of "corporate prison" and create a new reality. My husband suggested I take a leap of faith and open my full-time marketing communications consulting business under the freelance dba I'd previously established.
Since that time, I've never looked back. I now provide marketing communications to clients nationwide. While I have experience supporting everything from food service, hospitality, and tourism to book authors—my sweet spot is connecting tech service providers with their customers. You'll also find me volunteering to give back in the community through the Charleston Rotary Club.
I still work hard and put in long hours, but I balance it by weight lifting, kayaking, boating and scuba diving with my husband. I also spend a lot of time receiving love and entertainment from the "president" and "CEO" of my company—Quigley and Paisley, our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel furry sons.
